Reverend Father Ejike Mbaka has apologized to Peter Obi and his supporters for the utterances he made about him.
Father Mbaka had sparked reactions on social media when he told his congregation at his Adoration Ministry in Enugu that the Labour Party presidential candidate is a stingy man and will never become the President of Nigeria. He said that Peter Obi does not give people money, and that in a country where hunger is ravaging the land, Peter Obi is not the right choice for the people. He said that Peter Obi is cursed, and that as far as God is alive, he will never become President.
His utterances had attracted widespread condemnation from members of the public, and even the Catholic Diocese of Enugu State had disowned his statement, and described it as divisive and unbecoming of a priest.
Father Mbaka has apologized to Peter Obi and his supporters, saying that if there’s any way they were offended by his utterances, he is asking for forgiveness and understanding.
In the post which he made on his Facebook page, and also shared by Sahara Reporters, he said that Peter Obi is his brother and friend, and that his intention is not to fight against him. He said that he loves him, and wishes him success in his pursuit.
He said – “My intention is not to fight or malign Mr Peter Obi. He is my friend, and remained my friend and brother. I love him and I wish him success. May God bless him and his good supporters. God’s will be done in his political endeavours… The followers of Peter Obi are the same youths I am praying for, sacrificing for, fighting for, speaking for, and working for their integral wellbeing.”
He also added that he is not in any political party, and that good people and good governance are what he stands for.
The apology letter has been attracting mixed reactions on social media, and some people have said that at least it is a good move from him. What do you have to say about this apology from Father Mbaka ?
