…calls on FG, Abia State Government to help end all boundaries crisis in 2021.
The newly elected President General of Okon-Aku Ohafia Development Union, Dr. Nmecha Umeh Kalu has reassured his supporters and the entire community of his total commitment for the sustenance of the developmental strides already taken during his short period of steering the interim leadership of the union till the just-concluded election of December 2020.

Recall that in early 2020, following disagreements over the readiness of the community to have a well-constituted election, the people of Okon-Aku agreed to hand over to an interim executive which was led by Dr. Nmecha Umeh Kalu till the end of 2020.
Owing to his good works and service to the community. The community was agog with the leadership style of the PG, as he gave a comprehensive report and account of his stewardship in 2020, despite the ravaging Covid-19 pandemic.
It was on that premise that the people at the General Assembly, unanimously passed a vote of confidence, on the PG, to continue.
While addressing OHAFIA-TV News in a phone conversation, Dr. Nmecha insisted that the time of politics for the position has come and gone to the glory of God. He said that now is time to synergize with every member of the community, likewise friends outside to draw the needed energy to bear on all programs that will be rolled out to continue the good works of community development.
In his words: “This is time for all and sundry to lend their support to move the community forward in one love as every true leader must see service to the people as sacrosanct, no matter our emotions.
“While I am calling for strong support from our community members, I am determined to ensure that through the empowerment of our youths, women and the unemployed, we will be able to tackle crimes and social vices associated with idleness.
“We are going to embark on skills acquisition, agricultural programs, continuous education, computer training etc as a means of tackling development headlong,” he said.
However, Dr. Nmecha pointed out that for all the positive programs to be achieved, there must be a good atmosphere of peace and tranquillity, adequate security and cooperation within and without.
He, therefore, called on the Federal Government of Nigeria, Abia State Government, and the Ohafia Local Government to help end all boundary crises in the area.
“This has become the primary area of interest for us because our community can only develop in an atmosphere of peace. God willing, I am going to work tenaciously with men of repute in my community and government to ensure that we resolve to avert a repeat of the ugly scenarios that bedevilled us in the recent past.
“I, therefore, appeal to the Abia State Government to make good their promise to help Okon-Aku community achieve peace”, he concludes.
