A devastating attack occurred on Tuesday night, September 3, at the Isiala Mbano Local Government Area headquarters in Imo State.
Unidentified gunmen stormed the secretariat, killing two vigilante members and setting vehicles ablaze. The attack, which began around 8:30 p.m., also left parts of the council building in ruins.
Eyewitnesses described the scene as chaotic, with sporadic gunfire and widespread destruction.
“The hoodlums killed two security personnel on duty and set fire to a significant portion of the council building,” one eyewitness recounted. “Several vehicles were also burned, and many others escaped with injuries.”
The attack has sent shockwaves through the community, with many residents fleeing to nearby villages in fear. The Imo State Police Command has deployed tactical teams to apprehend those responsible for the attack.
Spokesperson Henry Okoye confirmed the incident and assured that authorities are working to restore order and track down the perpetrators.
The community remains in a state of shock as the full extent of the damage and loss of life becomes clear.”
