New executive officers have been chosen by the Online Media Practitioners Association of Nigeria, Abia to lead the association’s operations during the next two years.

The Chairman of the Electoral Committee, Ugochukwu Nwankwo, announced the results of the general election that was held at the Evergreen Hotels in Umuahia. Mr. Promise Okoro received 24 votes in total to become the new Chairman, while Clinton Uba received 10 votes to finish in second place.

He stated that “Nneka Torti emerged the Vice Chairman, Dr Steve Unegbu the General Secretary, Chibuzor Aguwa the Financial Secretary, Stanley Nwokonko the Welfare Officer, Nwadiuto Mabel Okugo,the Treasurer and Loveday Chidi the Public Relation Officer, all returned unopposed”

“We will chart a new course for OMPAN Abia,” Mr. Promise Okoro pledged in his acceptance address, expressing gratitude for having been selected as the new chairman.

He promised not to let the association down and reiterated his sincere commitment to serving OMPAN.

He went on to implore Clinton Uba, his opponent, to collaborate with him for the expansion and advancement of OMPAN Abia.

In addition, he conveyed appreciation to the Elders of the Association for ensuring that the two front-runners for the chairmanship signed a Peace Accord and for conducting the election in a peaceful manner. He also urged everyone to lay down their swords in order for peace to reign.

In his speech, outgoing OMPAN chairman Chief Paddy Anyatonwu thanked God for a good conclusion to his term in office and thanked the members of the Electoral Committee for organising a smooth and orderly election that will bring in an executive officer for the organisation.
