Honours Usaka Eleogu- world’s best Para Power Lifter, Amarachi
In his quest to drive home the inclusive governance of the present administration of Dr. Alex Otti, OFR, the Mayor of Ikwuano Local Government Area, Mayor Osinachi Nwaka has flagged off an initiative tagged, ‘ThankGod it’s Friday with Dr. Otti and Mayor Nwaka, to eliminate the poverty among Special Citizens.
The initiative which was kicked off yesterday at the Council, alongside the Mayor’s ‘Thanksgiving service For the Affirmation of Otti’s Mandate and Continued Success’, is aimed at alleviating the suffering of all indigenes of the Council, living with disabilities.
Famousreporters.com gathered that the said initiative which is first of its kind in the history of the State, is an offshoot of Mayor Nwaka’s New Era Foundation (NEF), a Non Governmental Organisation (NGO), established to totally eradicate poverty from among the people of Ikwuano.
Asked the correlation between his NGO and the initiative, the President of Ndi Nwaka said:
“The New Era Foundation gave birth to this. I have been helping humanity. As the founder of New Era Foundation NEF, our slogan is Service to humanity. So, right now, a higher platform has come for me to do more and I’m not relenting. What I’ve been doing in the New Era is a small thing compared to what I’ll be doing now because I have the government’s backing.
According to the famous philanthropist, the monthly event which is slated to hold on the last Friday of every month, “is strictly for only Special Citizens of the Council. I want to tell them there is an ability in disability.”
Addressing Journalists, the Mayor and President of New Era Foundation insisted that only Special citizens who have a source of livelihood amidst their deformity qualified for the cash gift of #250,000.00, in his desire to improve their lives.
“Charity they say begins at home so this exercise is strictly for every indigene of Ikwuano. You must be an indigene of Ikwuano from either of the clans – Oloko, Oboro, Ariam-Usaka or Ibere but you must be doing something. You must not be a Disabled person that’s dependent on your family. There must be something you do because God does not add something to zero rather He adds one to what you already have.
“He asked Moses what he had in his hands so there must be something you are doing and then we can add value to it, expand it and then follow up after three months or a quarter to know how you are using the money.
“I had to bring a better solution and that is why I am here; I’m here to discover the gaps; discover those things that are not right and correct them and to give hope to the hopeless. So, just like we demonstrated today, every last Friday of the month, Dr. Alex, through my office will be empowering two special citizens who are either blind, crippled or with any form of disformity.”
Asked what could be done to ameliorate the predicaments of some of the special citizens dependent on their families and relatives, he said:
“That’s another level of empowerment; that’s a social bonus. I’ve been doing that ever before I emerged as a Mayor. I buy bags of rice and other things and distribute them. It’s a one-off transaction and it continues.
Meanwhile, after this set, we’ll identify those ones who don’t have anything they’re doing, we’ll bring them together and give them hope.
“This exercise is part of my own inclusive governance,
in pursuance of what his Excellency is doing. It’s my own initiative to help my people grow above poverty.
The renowned human and political Manager, advised the people of Ikwuano to sheath their swords and watch the government of Alex Otti transform their lives through his extant inclusive system of government.
“My advice to my people is for them to stay calm, Ihe adiwo mma; Ihe Dr. Alex Otti abatago. It’s a new dawn in Ikwuano. Those things they think are not possible, through the enablement of Dr. Alex Otti, I want to tell Ndi Ikwuano that it is possible. My slogan in Ikwuano is: Ihe adiwo mma maka na ihe abatala- things are better now because light has come.
I’m not a typical politician rather a political manager who manages both resources and humanity.
Furthermore, he urged the people to pray for the Council executives and Dr. Alex Otti, while pledging to replicate in the area, every work of the latter at the State level.
Adding, he said: “Many things will unfold. As Dr. Alex is doing it at the centre of the State, I’ll also make sure that dividends of democracy are deepened in the grassroots of Ikwuano Local Government Area. So, all they need to do is to pray for us and pray for Dr. Alex Otti.
Meanwhile, the highlight of the event was the presentation of cash gift of #350, 000.000, (three hundred and fifty thousand naira) to a crippled cobbler and #250,000.00 to a blind young man by the Mayor.
Moreso, the event witnessed a grand reception of a multi award winning special citizen from Usaka Eleogu, Miss Onuinyechi Gift Mark, who, amidst ecstasy, thanked the Mayor for the honour done on her, as well as the huge cash gift she received.
Speaking on behalf of other special citizens who benefited from the Mayor’s financial empowerment, Ms. Amarachi explained that emerging the world’s best para power lifter was a product of her unflinching determination and focus.
Hear her: “I train very hard so that I would give my country the best representation that I can. I also train very hard so that I would make my immediate community, Ikwuano and my State proud”, she said.
She thanked the Mayor and the people of usaka Eleogu and for recognising her impacts in her chosen field.
” I pray that God Almighty who gave you the wisdom to remember the disabled will not abandon them. Assured them that they will never let them down”, she said, as she promised to continue to represent the Council effectively and with mind captivating results.
