On Sunday, December 3, 2023, the Chief Dr. Emeka C. Kalu Football Competition, presented by Chief Dr. Emeka Charles Kalu Foundation, will get underway.

This was revealed during the Central Organizing Committee meeting for the football competition

Speaking at the meeting, Chief Kalu Emmanuel, the chairman of the Central Organizing Committee, announced that the four Autonomous Communities in Bende Town will compete in the football competition using a knockout format. He also disclosed that all the necessary supplies, such as jerseys, balls, and gold cups, have been purchased, with a one million naira price tag to be divided among the four teams.

He charged the several Autonomous communities’ team managers to make sure their squads are disciplined and follow the game’s rules.

The Central Planning Committee decided that the first game would take place on December 3, 2023, the second on December 10, 2023, the third on December 17, 2023, and the finals on December 30, 2023.

Every day around 4 p.m., all of the matches will take place at Bende Local Government Field.

The football competition’s draws will take place by 4 p.m. on Sunday, November 25, 2023.

The football competition’s sponsor, Chief Dr. Emeka C. Kalu, was thanked by the various representatives of the four Autonomous Communities who spoke during the meeting. These representatives included Mr. Andrew Obi (Umuoche), Ifeanyi Ikechukwu (Isiala), Okorie Ogbonna (Umuisiobu), and Chidiebere Ndukwe (Bende Ovu). They also stated that the football competition will help keep the town busy during the Yuletide season while guaranteeing that their teams will play according to the rules of the game.
