The 56-year-old chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Roni Local Government Area, Saleh Idris, has been detained by the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) for allegedly raping his housegirl.

In a statement to OHAFIATV News, CSC Adamu Shehu, the NSCDC’s Jigawa State Command spokesman, confirmed the arrest.

According to him, the victim’s brother filed a complaint alleging that the suspect had sexually assaulted and pregnant his sister, 14, who worked as a housekeeper at the suspect’s home, and that’s why the suspect was taken into custody on Wednesday.

“The case was reported at NSCDC Roni LGA Division after a failed agreement reached at the Hisba office on taking responsibility,” the victim’s brother claimed in a report. Rather, he was exerting pressure on the family to terminate the pregnancy.

The victim and the suspect first interacted when the suspect, who had sex with the victim, handed her a drink when his wife wasn’t home, causing her to pass out.

“He threatened her not to tell anyone or risk losing her monthly allowances when the victim regained consciousness, and as a result, the ugly trend continued repeatedly without her telling anyone until pregnancy surfaced.”

According to CSC Adamu, the suspect refuted the accusation during questioning, and a court case has been filed.

According to him, the case violates Jigawa State’s Violence Against Persons (Prohibition) Act section 3 and is subject to penalties under the same Act.
