The political relationship between the governorship candidate of the Action Peoples Party (APP) in Abia state, Chief Mascot Uzor Kalu, and the people of Ukwa keeps getting stronger, as he has promised to do more for them if elected into office.
Chief Kalu, who recounted his longstanding political proclivity for Ukwa, recalled how he initiated the executive bill for the formation of the Abia State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (ASOPADEC) Board, saying he did that because he knew Ukwa is marginalized.
“As a Chief of Staff, I initiated the formation of ASOPADEC to benefit Ukwa. I did that because I knew Ukwa is marginalized. If I could do that as a Chief of Staff, it means I will do more for you as a Governor,” he said.
Speaking earlier, the Ukwa East/Ukwa West Federal House of Representatives candidate of the APP, Chief (Hon.) Sylvanus Nwaji, attested to how the Uzor Kalu family has shown political inclusiveness to Ukwa, with the then Governor Orji Uzor Kalu appointing Ukwa men as Secretary to the State Government (SSG) and Head of Service.
The APP tour train visited five ABSIEC wards in Ukwa East L.G.A. yesterday: Ozaukwu 1 and 2; Oza West and Ipu East; and Obuzor, with Prof. Osondu Akoma, the deputy governorship candidate; Dr. IK Ajuziogu, the candidate for Ukwa West State Constituency; and Comr. Emeka Adile, the State Administrative Secretary, amongst other chieftains of the party that were part of the tour.
