Give Dr. Samuel Uba Okorie your Vote. Vote for Dr. Samuel Uba Okorie
Brothers, Friends, Comrades, distinguished platform associates, fellow Abams and Aros:
Few months back, I took a decision to run for the office of the Arochukwu State Constituency Representative, and this came as a joyous daybreak to end the long night of human depravity. It came as a great beacon light of hope to millions of disinherited people throughout Arochukwu who had dared only to dream of freedom.
Unfortunately, this noble and sublime decision has not gone without opposition. This opposition has often risen to ominous proportions. Many people have risen up in open defiance. We understand, that being new in the system, there will always be an opposition. We understand that financially, we do not match up. We understand that politically we do not measure up.
But even more, all types of conniving methods are still being used to prevent me from becoming your Representative! And so our most urgent request to the people of Arochukwu State Constituency and every citizen of Abam Onyerubi and Arochukwu Clans, is to give us your Vote.
Give us your votes and we will right every wrong on the constituency. Restrategizing and repositioning Arochukwu Constituency, Reformation and Fulfillment is what I will bring to the table when elected.
We need all of you. Who is it that is supposed to articulate the longings and aspirations of the people more than the Man of God? And whenever injustice is around he tell it. This Man of God must be an Amos, and saith, “When God speaks who can but prophesy?” Again with Amos, “Let justice roll down like waters and righteousness like a mighty stream.” Somehow the preacher must say with Jesus, “The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me,” and he’s anointed me to deal with the problems of the poor, the problems of Arochukwu.”
It’s all right to talk about “long white robes over yonder,” in all of its symbolism. But ultimately people want some suits and dresses and shoes to wear down here! It’s all right to talk about “streets flowing with milk and honey,” but God has commanded us to be concerned about the slums down here, and his children who can’t eat three square meals a day. It’s all right to talk about the new Jerusalem, but one day, God’s preacher must talk about the new Arochukwu, the New Abam Onyerubi, the new Ihechiowa, the new Ututu, the new Isu, the new Ikwun, etc. This is what we have to do.
I conclude by saying that each of us must keep faith in the future. Let us not despair. Let us realize that as we struggle for justice and freedom, we have cosmic companionship. This is the long faith of the Hebraic-Christian tradition: that God is not some Aristotelian Unmoved Mover who merely contemplates upon himself. He is not merely a self-knowing God, but an other-loving God, forever working through history for the establishment of His kingdom.
