Government says it will position the state as a hub of transformation and exceed the international benchmark in Human Capital Development HCD by the year 2030.
The Deputy Governor, Chief Ikechukwu Emetu, stated this during the inauguration of the newly appointed members of the state Human Capital Development Concil in his office.


Chief Emetu also said that the decision is aims to eradicate poverty, improve health and education, reduce inequality, grow economies and protect the environment.
He charged members of the HCD council to deliberate effectively and efficiently and provide implementation strategies that will benefit Abians and project the state to the world.
In her contribution, te Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Budget and Economic Planning, Mrs. Magdalene Kalu stressed the need for the availability of data to aid MDAs in proper documentation.

Earlier in her presentation, the Chairman, state Civil Service Commission and also the Focal Person, state Human Capital Development Council, Pastor, Mrs. Eno Jerry Eze, explained that the meeting was scheduled to present a draft on information compiled by various Ministries, Departments and Agencies in thematic areas, for inputs by the technical working group in order to arrive at a final document to be implemented in the state.
Pastor Mrs. Eze, further said that the council will identify implemented HCD- tagged activities for reporting during the state launch and also
Identify in implemented HCD-tagged activities for Budget advocacy.
Contributing, the Chairman, state Disability Commission Mr. David Anyaele, represented by planning, research and statistics officer, Mr. Ikenna Ebiri, urged the Council to include People with Disabilities in the baseline study especially in heath, education among others.
Our government house correspondent Emelda Jibueze reports that the Commissioner for SMEs, Mazi, Mike Akpara, Permanent Secretary Ministry of Health, Dr. Ifeyinwa Uma Kalu among others were present during the event.
