The opposition alliance that intends to remove President Bola Tinubu in 2027 has refuted allegations that it recently became a member of the African Democratic Congress, or ADC.
According to reports that surfaced on Wednesday, the opposition factions led by former vice president Atiku Abubakar recently convened and agreed to run for office on the ADC platform.

According to the sources, the alliance has named Salihu Lukman, a former vice chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) North-West, as its head of secretariat.
But in a statement released Thursday in Abuja, Lukman, who is now the projected coalition’s spokesperson, revealed that the rumours are untrue.
He urged the public to ignore the news, emphasising that no such decision was made during the alleged meeting.
“The report is totally untrue, so the public should ignore it. Such a decision has not been made. The claim that the coalition adopted the ADC during its meeting on Tuesday, May 20, 2025, is also untrue, he claimed.
In actuality, he said, talks between all of the coalition leaders are going well, and final choices about the political platform for the 2027 election will be made shortly.
Regretfully, it seems that some troublemakers are spreading and fabricating tales in the media with the express intent of sowing the seeds of division among coalition leaders. All of these naughty stories should be ignored by the public and media.
“The coalition leaders will make a formal announcement after negotiations are finished,” he said.
