The Member Representing Arochukwu/Ohafia Federal Constituency, Hon. Ibe Okwara Osonwa, has expressed deep sorrow over the tragic road accident that claimed the lives of a commercial motorcycle operator and a school pupil in Amaekpu Ohafia, Abia State.
The accident, which occurred along Arochukwu Road near Strums Filling Station, was reportedly caused by brake failure of a heavy-duty truck belonging to a construction company operating in the area.

According to eyewitnesses, the motorcycle was carrying two schoolchildren when the truck lost control and ran over the bike. One of the children narrowly escaped, while the rider and the other pupil tragically lost their lives.
In a statement, Hon. Osonwa described the incident as a painful and avoidable loss, offering prayers for the repose of the deceased and strength for their grieving families.
“I am deeply saddened by this heartbreaking accident that cut short two precious lives. My thoughts and prayers are with the families affected by this tragedy. I urge all road users, especially heavy-duty truck drivers, to be more cautious and prioritize safety at all times,” he said.
He also called on road safety agencies, including the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) and the Abia State Traffic Management Agency (TIMAS), to implement road safety measures and ensure such tragedies do not reoccur.
