Chief Chidiebere J. Okoh, a Chieftain of All Progressives Congress, APC in Abia State, has condemned the attempt to retry Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, insisting that it is a campaign of columny by his opposition to discredit and block his chances of vying for any office of his choice in 2027 because they see him as their only threat.

He warned that those that a championing such anormally should desist from it. Okoh also advised that EFCC should not be reduced to mere political tool to wtchhunt opponents and our court should be seen as custodian of justice, not mere tool for political vendetta.

The vocal politician said that any further attempt to embarrass, harrass, or tarnish the image of the distinguished Senator shall be resistsd by all means, insisting that Nigeria is full off corrupt politicians, unfortunately the EFCC has left their job of being a responsible institution to become a tool off oppression and segregated crime administration. Enough is enough.

Politically Motivated: Okoh believes that the EFCC’s actions and the court’s decision appear to be politically motivated, rather than a genuine pursuit of justice, insisting that the attempt to retry Senator Kalu allegedly violates the Nigerian constitution and undermines the principles of constitutional integrity.

Insufficient Evidence: The Federal High Court initially found insufficient evidence to support the charges against Senator Kalu, leading to his acquittal. This acquittal was based on a thorough examination of the evidence, in the same vein, there is no new evidence to warrant a retrial.

The unexpected retrial ordered by the Court of Appeal raises questions about the underlying motivations behind the court’s decision, raising questions of whether the court is acting independently or under external pressure.

He said it is high time we focus on important issues to deal with perinial matters plaguing Nigeria. Senator Orji Uzor Kalu has remained one of the most performing senators in Nigeria who has brought joy to the people of Abia North Senatorial Zone through endless people oriented projects. The good people of Abia North will not stand idly by to watch few disgruntled elements from afar to rubbish his name because they think they are holding unto power. Such attempt will be vehemently resisted.
