Nigeria’s Senate has come under fire from former Education Minister Obiageli Ezekwesili for obstructing a probe into Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan’s claim of sexual harassment against Senate President Godswill Akpabio.
Ezekwesili accused Nigerian lawmakers of acting with impunity and called them a group of nation destroyers.

The Economist’s claim that Nigerian politics is a hostile environment for women prompted the comment.
The media outlet, which described Akpoti-Uduaghan’s accusation against Akpabio, asserted that the sexual harassment controversy is a reflection of the difficult circumstances that Nigerian women face in the political arena.
Ezekwesili responded to the post by saying that the Senate’s blatant reluctance to allow for an impartial probe into the situation has shamed Nigeria and Nigerians.
The former minister went on to say that Natasha was the target of a slander campaign by the Senate and Senate President.
Here is another post from @TheEconomist about the embarrassment that @Senator_Akpabio @NGRSenate has caused to Nigeria and Nigerians by blatantly refusing to allow a Specially Constituted Committee of the Nigerian Senate to conduct an independent investigation and hold an open and transparent public hearing, according to Ezekwesili.
Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan @NatashaAkpoti was referred to the tainted Senate Committee on Ethics, Code of Conduct, and Public Petitions “investigation” after a heated argument with the Senate President over seating arrangements. “No one wants another Kangaroo process of injustice like they did to her.”
The Senate supported the committee’s recommendations for a six-month suspension and other severe penalties, even though they violated the Constitution.
“The Senate and Senate President have launched a smear campaign on Senator @NatashaAkpoti instead of reversing that illegality and concentrating on her sexual harassment petition.
In order to carry out a phoney recall, they are currently planning to bribe her constituents, who fortunately have mostly turned down their offer of dirty money.
“What a group of nation-destroyers our “Lawmakers” are. Because they have seized control of our democracy, they act without consequence.
“Well, before they completely destroy what remains of Nigeria, it is time for all reasonable citizens to stand up to them.”
