The Anambra State Government has announced plans to prosecute popular native doctors, including Akwa Okuko, Eke Hit, and Onye Eze Jesus, for their alleged involvement in ritual killings, kidnappings, fraud, and other criminal activities.

This move is part of the state’s efforts to rid itself of criminal elements, in line with the Anambra Homeland Security Law 2025.

According to Dr. Law Mefor, the Commissioner for Information, the native doctors were arrested and detained for their suspected roles in promoting “get-rich-quick” schemes linked to a charm known as Okeite. The state government has also sealed a popular church, “Children of the Light Anointing Ministry,” run by Pastor Onyebuchi Okocha, also known as “Onye Eze Jesus,” over alleged involvement in the controversial “Oke-ite” traditional practice.

The Anambra State Government has pledged to thoroughly investigate the native doctors and those found guilty will face the full force of the law. The government is also documenting practitioners of traditional medicine, but not registering or granting them practice certificates.
