The Okon-Aku Development Union (ODU) Abuja Chapter commenced its 2025 monthly meeting on Sunday, February 9th, with a resounding emphasis on peace, unity, and progress. The gathering, hosted by the illustrious Chief Mrs. Nnenna Ukoha at her Gwarimpa residence, brought together esteemed members of the community who came out en masse to reason together on a way forward for Okon-Aku community in Ohafia Local Government Area.

In his opening address, the President of ODU, Abuja Chapter, Chief Mila Ofor Mba underscored the imperative of unity among the people of Okon-Aku, citing the Abuja chapter as a beacon of hope and a shining example. He emphasized that unity is the bedrock upon which progress is built and that the chapter’s commitment to unity and peace would be a guiding principle in its endeavors.
On her part, Chief Mrs. Nnenna Ukoha, during her address reinforced the President’s message, emphasizing the importance of unity with the analogy of a broom. “Just as a broom’s strength lies in its bundled sticks, our collective strength as a people lies in our unity,” she noted. She restated the need for Okon-Aku members to move forward with one purpose by doing away with backbiting, infighting and other negative vices that tend to divide rather than build the community and its people.
Chief Mrs Ukoha also challenged the ODU Abuja chapter to look towards initiating infrastructural projects in Okon-Aku community as a way of developing the community and giving back to their land of birth.
She said all indigenes of Okon should come out and help in building the ODU of their dreams rather than engaging in issues that does not help in growing Okon-Aku.


Chief Mrs Nnenna Ukoha who is an Adviser at the Okon-Aku Traditional Council said the Council had agreed that every Okon man and woman will be levied a particular sum to help support infrastructural development, security and peace efforts in Okon-Aku.
Other speakers, including Chief Sunny Ikenga, Colonel Ukonu Ukoha, and Chief Kingsley Kalu Oke, echoed the sentiments of the president and host, emphasizing the need for peace, unity, and progress. The meeting also featured vibrant entertainment, prayer session, and a call to service, as members were admonished to be ready to serve the fatherland at all times and in any capacity they must work hard while their strength lies with them.
In a significant development, the president, Chief Mila Ofor Mba, abolished certain controversial axioms, including “Nde Akpakara” and “Nde Doings,” which were deemed to be at odds with the chapter’s values of excellence and unity. The president emphasized that such mediocrity would not be tolerated within the Abuja branch, and defaulters would face strict consequences.

The President of the Abuja chapter resolved explained that they will embark on a lofty project for Okon-Aku in 2025, leveraging collective effort and unity of purpose. This project, details of which will be announced in due course, is expected to have a transformative impact on the community.
One of the highlights of the meeting was the generous gesture by the host, Chief Mrs. Nnenna Ukoha, who gifted each woman member present at the meeting with a quarter bag of Rice, bringing smiles to their faces.
With its emphasis on peace, unity, and progress, the ODU Abuja Chapter’s 2025 monthly meeting marked a significant milestone in the organization’s journey towards a brighter future for Okon-Aku.
