“…Christ the firstfruits…”
1st. Cor. 15:23
Now, again it bothers on the right and balanced applicability of the two testaments; the old, and the new.
Fundamentally, the Old Testament is essentially physical while the New Testament is essentially spiritual; the same way we have the physical life, and then the spiritual life.
Thus, we’re first physical at human birth, and then spiritual when we’re born again or regenerated in Christ (Jn. 3:1-8). Though from the creational inception; before the fall of Man we were first created in the spirit realm before the soulish, and the bodily realm.

Invariably both are sequential, and integral in our present existence on earth.
But, then since God mainly began to deal with man in the physical amidst, His nature, and that is what the Old Testament beholds, but then by the reason of grace which came through Christ; which also grants us the divine nature of God through salvation even with the present bodily covering – God now deals with us majorly in the spiritual realm.
Thus, what He essentially demanded physically is by Him now demanded spiritually, and therefore the Firstfruits which is our focal issue here is not an exception.
To mean that God in the Old Testament emphatically demanded for the physical firstfruits (Ex. 23:15-19), which is now fulfilled spiritually in Christ (1 Cor 15:23); and that’s virtually once and for all; one off indeed.
Hence, the Bible affirms that Jesus is now the firstfruits of all who are born again; God having also given Christ out as His first born to die for mankind. Which then requires no more again of firstfruits as Christ is one, and none other of Him to again serve as the firstfruits; as indeed the only begotten of God; His father in heaven.
Consequently, the divine demand for firstfruits has eternally given way as Christ is not the singular, firstfruit but the plural, firstfruits (1 Cor. 15:23).
But, then since we are still in the physical body it is never out of place to want to practice the physical exhibition of offering firstfruits.
And, to still do that in the physical would just be a demonstration of the token of our faith in our firm believe of the real firstfruits which Christ is and ever remains.
The implication of which is that the physical firstfruits are no longer hinged on a compelling ordinance of God, and therefore no longer a necessary or a compulsory demand by God.
Those who still adhere to the old order of firstfruits offering only do so as a physical demonstration of their faith in Christ as God’s eternal firstfruits afterward.
To mean that the imperative thing now in the New Testament is to believe that Christ is the firstfruits, and then walk in the light of that truth by putting God first in all that we do in the realm of the spirit; finish!
Praise God…
