President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has given a significant boost to Nigeria’s military personnel by approving a salary increase.
This move, announced by Minister of State for Defence Bello Matawalle, includes a three-month salary arrears payment and the release of funds to clear outstanding pensions and entitlements for retired military personnel.
This development is expected to greatly improve the morale of the armed forces, who have been working tirelessly to combat insecurity in Nigeria.
Matawalle praised Tinubu’s commitment to the welfare of both serving and retired military personnel, emphasizing that addressing pension arrears for retirees remains a top priority.
The minister also acknowledged the efforts of the Minister of Finance, Wale Edun, in making these payments a reality. With this salary increase and payment of arrears, the Nigerian military can expect a significant improvement in their overall welfare.
