A fire outbreak occurred at the Federal Ministry of Works headquarters in Abuja on Friday, causing panic among staff and workers.
Fortunately, the incident was quickly brought under control, and no significant damage was reported.
The fire was attributed to a spark from a faulty circuit breaker on the ground floor of Block A, according to Mohammed A. Ahmed, Director of Press and Public Relations.
The Federal Fire Service team, led by Station Commander Mr. Kekai Bekebi, responded promptly and effectively contained the situation using available fire extinguishers. A successful evacuation exercise was also carried out, ensuring the safety of all staff.
OHAFIATV gathered that no documents were lost, and no injuries or casualties were reported during the incident. The Director of Human Resource Management, Mr. Aliyu Abdullahi, commended the staff for their calm and orderly conduct during the emergency.
Normal activities have resumed at the ministry, with maintenance staff cleaning up debris and restoring order.
This incident serves as a reminder of the importance of regular maintenance and safety checks to prevent such occurrences in the future.
