A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Chief Eze Chukwuemeka Eze, has called on President Bola Tinubu to intervene in the crisis surrounding the Rivers State local government election.
Eze accused the Nigeria Police and Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, of colluding to frustrate the electoral process.
In a statement, Eze condemned the police’s invasion of the Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission (RSIEC) premises, describing it as unprofessional.
He also criticized Wike’s alleged machinations to sabotage the election, citing the PDP’s withdrawal from the polls as evidence of cowardice.
Eze stated, “Wike’s desperation stems from his desire to see Governor Fubara’s administration fail, giving him something to brag about.”
He further accused Wike of thriving on manipulation and questioned the Independence National Electoral Commission (INEC) Resident Electoral Commissioner’s involvement in the matter.
The APC chieftain emphasized that INEC has no role in state-organized elections and urged the REC to refrain from making baseless statements.
Eze called on President Tinubu to call IGP Kayode Egbetokun and Wike to order, ensuring a free and fair election.
