Peter Obi, the 2023 Labour Party presidential candidate and former Anambra State Governor, has revealed the condition under which he would accept a vice presidential role in the next election. In an interview with News Central,
Obi expressed his willingness to collaborate with other politicians, including Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), but only if the focus is on improving the lives of citizens, not just winning elections.
Obi emphasized that any collaboration must prioritize lifting people out of poverty and ensuring no child is left behind. He stated, “I’m ready to collaborate with anyone interested in making a positive impact. However, I won’t join forces for personal gain or election wins.”
When asked about potentially serving as vice president, Obi said he would consider it if someone else could do the job better than him. He clarified, “I’m not desperate to be president; I’m desperate to see Nigeria succeed. If I find someone who can do it better, I’ll support them.”
Obi also reaffirmed his commitment to the Labour Party, saying he has no plans to leave and will only consider collaborations that align with his values.
