A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, APC in Abia State, Chief Chidiebere J Okoh, has reacted to the recent attempt by Dr. Josef Onoh to undermine Hon. Benjamin Kalu’s contributions to the South East Development Commission (SEDC) which he says is a desperate and misguided effort to rewrite history.
He reiterated that as the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Kalu played a pivotal role in ensuring the passage of the SEDC bill, and his leadership and commitment to the region’s development are a matter of public record.
“Contrary to Onoh’s claims, Hon. Kalu’s efforts were instrumental in the passage and signing of the SEDC bill into law. The timeline of events, from the first reading to the final signing, is a testament to Hon. Kalu’s dedication and perseverance.
“It is unfortunate that Onoh has resorted to spreading falsehoods and misinformation in an attempt to gain cheap popularity. His actions are a clear example of the “pull him down syndrome” and crab mentality that has hindered progress in our region.
“I urge Onoh to focus on making meaningful contributions to the South East and Nigeria rather than trying to distort history and undermine the achievements of others. The people of the SouthEast region will not be swayed by his desperate attempts to rewrite history.
“Hon. Benjamin Kalu’s legacy in the SEDC is indelible, and his commitment to the region’s development is unwavering. We stand by him and commend his efforts in ensuring that the SouthEast region receives the attention and investment it deserves”. he said.
