President Bola Tinubu arrived back in Abuja on Friday, August 23, 2024, after a brief official visit to France. He landed at Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport at 2:25 am.
Later today, President Tinubu will formally appoint Justice Kudirat Olatokunbo Kekere-Ekun as the new Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN) at the State House Council Chambers.
This ceremony will mark the official transition from Justice Olukayode Ariwoola, who recently retired.
The National Judicial Council (NJC) recommended Justice Kekere-Ekun for the position during its 106th meeting on August 15. The swearing-in ceremony was confirmed by Ajuri Ngelale, Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, in a statement released on Thursday.
President Tinubu’s return from France and the swearing-in ceremony mark a significant day in Nigeria’s judicial calendar, as the country welcomes a new Chief Justice.”
