The National Youth Alliance has expressed deep sadness over the tragic collapse of a school building in Busabuji, Jos North Local Government Area of Plateau State, which resulted in the loss of 17 precious lives and injuries to 120 others.
This was contained in a statement by the Hon. Jacob Dickson, the Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to the NYA National Chairman and Youth President, Ambassador Aliyu Bin Abbas, on Friday night.
“We condole with the families of the victims and the entire community, praying for the speedy recovery of those injured. While appreciating the prompt response of emergency services and well-meaning residents who assisted in the rescue mission, we demand a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding the collapse.
The NYA calls on the Government of Plateau State and other relevant authorities to conduct a thorough investigation into the incident, identify those responsible for the collapse, take appropriate action against those found culpable, and ensure all schools in the state are safe and structurally sound
“We owe it to the victims and their families to ensure such a tragedy never happens again,” said Ambassador Aliyu Bin Abbas, National Chairman and Youth President of NYA.
