The approval of an uplift grant for 3.6 million Nigerian families has been given by President Bola Tinubu.
The National Construction and Household Support Programme will be used to distribute the grant.
Each state will receive N50,000 for three months, benefiting roughly 100,000 families.
This was verified in a statement by Ajuri Ngelale, the presidential spokesman.
The text said, in part, “Furthermore, additional items covered by the National Construction and Household Support Programme comprise:
“A one-time N10 billion grant to the states and the Federal Capital Territory for the purchase of buses and the CNG upgrade programme.”
“Provision of three (3) months’ worth of N50,000 uplift grants, each, to 100,000 families in each state.”
“Reservations for civil society organisations and labour unions.”
“N155 billion will be used to buy and sell a variety of foodstuffs that will be distributed throughout the country.”
In order to address the needs of the populace, Tinubu urged state governors to collaborate during the National Economic Council (NEC) meeting in Abuja.
“He is willing to provide the needed support to ensure that Nigerians are relieved of hardship,” Tinubu further pledged.
