Lauretta Onochie, a former media assistant to former President Muhammadu Buhari, prayed on Saturday for former PDP presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar to stand down so that Peter Obi, a member of the Labour Party, can succeed him in 2027.
Onochie claimed that President Bola Tinubu’s reelection would be simpler if Atiku resigned in favour of Obi.
Sharing on X, Our Father and our God, wrote Onochie. It is indeed me, your daughter. I hope that Atiku steps down in favour of Obi so that the APC’s reelection in 2027 will be simple.
You are a responsible father who always provides for me, so you know I never ask for anything. I’m grateful that my prayer was heard.
According to recent remarks made by Atiku, if the party chooses the former governor of Anambra, he will gladly back Obi in the upcoming election.
According to the OHAFIATV News, Obi and Atiku recently had a private meeting that raised rumours of a possible merger of opposition political parties before the general elections of 2027.
Atiku stated, “We can merge to achieve a common goal,” confirming the opposition parties’ decision to unite to unseat the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, in the 2027 election. So, if we want to accomplish something, nothing can stop us from doing it.
“I won’t hesitate to support Peter Obi if the new party decides that it’s the turn of the South-East,” declared Atiku.
“I have stated time and time again, and even before the general elections of 2023, that I will not run for president if PDP chooses to allocate the ticket to the South or South-East in particular.”
