The headquarters 14 Brigade Nigeran Army yesterday 16 May 2024, host delegation and participants of the Senior Executive Course 46 of 2024 from National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies, Kuru, Plateau State.
The participants were drawn from various agencies in the federation to carry out a study tour to Abia State as a requisite of completing their studies in the nation’s foremost think tank institute. With a theme “Digital Economy, Youth Empowerment and Sustainable Job Creation in Nigeria: Issues, Challenges and Opportunities”.
The leader of the delegates Brigadier General Lateef Jimoh mni states that Abia is enriched with different cultural heritage and technology, more reason why it was chosen to be exploited by the participants in the course of their study.
Earlier, the Commander 14 Brigade Brigadier General Olusola Diya in his welcome address, appreciate the Director General for chosen Abia State for the local study tour which he said it will avail the participants the opportunity to explore Abia, gather data for their studies, identify challenges and prospects as applicable to Abia in particular.
In his words “digital economy presents significant opportunities for sustainable job creation and youth empowerment in Abia State, with the right infrastructure and policies in place, it can drive innovation, entrepreneurship and skills development”.
He further acknowledged the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja command philosophy which he enumerated that it falls under three cardinal points such as training, equipment and motivation. Adding that the COAS has continued to strive to invest in empowering the Barrack youths through small and medium entrepreneurship which is evident through the Nigerian Army Officers’ Wives Association’s vocational training programmes that has created job opportunities for the Brigade youths.
The leader of the participants Brigadier General Laban Buba who gave the vote of thanks, appreciate the Commander 14 Brigade for the hospitality accorded and promised to make use of the knowledge gathered during their tour of duty.
Highlights of the study tour was presentation of quarter guard, interactive session, presentation of souvenirs and group photograph.
