Hon. Ginger Obinna Onwusibe, a member of the House of Representatives representing Isiala Ngwa South/Isiala Ngwa North federal constituency, has praised the Abia chapter of the Online Media Practitioners Association of Nigeria (OMPAN) for their factual news reportage that keeps the government and political office holders on their toes.
He gave this commendation while responding to a team of Abia OMPAN members who paid him a courtesy visit in his hometown, Amapu Ntigha in Isialangwa North local government area of Abia State.
Hon. Onwusibe encouraged OMPAN to maintain their culture of reporting events verbatim without fear or favour while playing the role of the watchdog of society. He advised OMPAN not to praise the government if they are not doing well because it will aid the government to derail in its administrative policies. He urged OMPAN to call the attention of the government to critical issues for proper guidance and noted that Governor Alex Otti is working with imperfect people who may want to satisfy their selfish gain but believes that Governor Otti wants the best for Abians.
Hon. Onwusibe also commended the transparency of the last OMPAN election which produced Promise Uzoma Okoro as the duly elected chairman of OMPAN. He also applauded OMPAN’s efforts to put the government and political officers on their toes through their activities and news reports.
The pragmatic leader faulted the previous administration of the Peoples Democracy Party (PDP) for their leadership style due to over-confidence amongst the party members. He commended the leadership style of Governor Alex Otti and urged Abians to support the governor to ensure a better Abia as he is determined to foster synergy with the government of Governor Alex Otti for a better Abia.
Hon. Onwusibe listed his achievements while in office as a House of Assembly member in Abia state and currently in the National Assembly, such as infrastructural development projects in sports, bursary awards, healthcare centers, markets, agricultural development training for some beneficiaries, and solar street lights.
He assured his constituents of his readiness to deliver quality representation to improve the welfare of his constituency.
In response to Hon. Onwusibe’s appreciation and advice, OMPAN Chairman, Promise Uzoma Okoro, thanked the honourable member for his observations.
