In Ekiti State, a man who has not been named is said to have stabbed his wife to death because she was allegedly cheating on him. The event took place over the weekend on Christ Avenue in the Adebayo neighbourhood of Ado-Ekiti.

One person who lives in the area told reporters that the event happened on Friday night, while another said it happened on Saturday morning.
“From what I could tell, the couple had locked the door to their apartment and sent their older kid on an errand before they got into a fight”,the neighbour said.

It was said that the man was a police officer, and his wife worked in a chemist shop.
During the fight, they stabbed each other with sharp objects. But It wasn’t clear if knives or bottles were used in the fight.

“They locked themselves in their flat with their five-year-old child,” a person said. “The man confronted the deceased because he thought she was cheating on him. A fight broke out, and the man killed his wife with a knife.”

At that moment people came to break up the fight, they found their flat door was locked. When they couldn’t break the door open, some of the people nearby took down parts of the roof to get into their flat.

“The dead woman and her husband were badly hurt when we met them. We rushed the woman to the hospital right away because she was unconscious, but she died before they got there”.

The source said that the incident was reported to the police station and the man was taken to a hospital that was not named where he is getting treatment while being closely watched by police.
