The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has come under fire from Nigerian activist Charles Oputa, also known as Charly Boy, for arresting and charging businessman Paschal Okechukwu, also known as Cubana Chief Priest, for abusing Naira.
Charly Boy claimed that the EFCC was using “frivolous shenanigans” to divert the attention of Nigerians away from more pressing problems. He questioned the agency’s decision to focus on such minor infractions rather than serious financial crimes.
Charly Boy contended, “Spraying Naira is a part of our age-old familiar culture that promotes bonding among people.”
“It raises the question of whether the EFCC still has significant work to accomplish in light of the three-count charge against Cubana Chief Priest.”
“They merely serve to “keep distracting poor, hungry, and hopeless Nigerians,” he continued.
“Why concentrate on innocuous, commonplace misconduct rather than individuals who embezzle enormous quantities of money from the public with impunity?” Charly Boy enquired.
“May you not have a happy death, and may God punish all of you in the EFCC.” Social media users are debating Charly Boy’s remarks, with many of them endorsing his position.
