In order to combat the widespread insecurity in the nation, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate for 2023, Atiku Abubakar, is calling for a revision of the security architecture.
In response to the release of students abducted from Kuriga in Kaduna State, Atiku made a statement.
After praising the individuals in charge of the students’ release, Atiku insisted on bolstering the Safe School Initiative.
In a post on X, Atiku demanded that the security architecture be changed to better address the dangers that Nigerians are facing.
“I am thrilled to hear that the 287 kidnapped schoolchildren in Kaduna have been released after being held captive for 16 days,” he wrote. I salute everyone who put forth endless effort to ensure their release.
As we commemorate them with their families and friends, let’s keep in mind that, much like stage four cancer, our country’s current condition of insecurity is spreading and requires immediate action to stop.
“I can only speculate about the horror these defenceless kids have endured. It is advised that the kids get expert psychotherapy treatment.
Furthermore, we don’t have to wait for the next tragedy to occur to start putting preventative measures in place. In light of this, I suggest fortifying the Safe School Initiative, which places a high priority on safeguarding schools, particularly in those regions where pupils are most likely to be abducted in large numbers. Above all, though, the security architecture needs to be completely redesigned to match the needs of the threats that confront us.
