Nigerian music icon Innocent Idibia, popularly known as “2Baba,” and his management label, Now Muzik, have mutually ended their over two-decade-long partnership. In a statement issued by Efe Omorogbe, co-founder and CEO of Now Muzik, the disengagement was described as amicable and immediate.

Omorogbe expressed gratitude for the trust and friendship shared with 2Baba, acknowledging their collective achievements in building brands and creating music that entertained fans. He highlighted 2Baba’s stature as one of Nigeria’s greatest musicians and expressed pride in their collaborative efforts over the years.

In response, 2Baba expressed appreciation for Now Muzik’s role in his career success, acknowledging their support in bringing his talent and vision to life. He emphasized the importance of partnerships in his achievements and thanked the company for its contributions.

2Baba, who signed with Now Muzik management in 2004 after leaving The Plantashun Boiz, will now be represented by his own imprint, Hypertek Digital, marking a new phase in his career. Since joining Now Muzik, he has released eight albums, performed in numerous cities, won numerous awards, and accumulated over 400 million streams across platforms.

Now Muzik, founded by Omorogbe in 1994 during his time as a University of Lagos undergraduate, has been home to over 30 talents and has received over 100 awards collectively. The company’s contribution to the growth of the entertainment industry in Africa is acknowledged, with a combined music stream of over one billion.

The parting of ways between 2Baba and Now Muzik signals the end of a significant era in Nigerian music, while both parties express gratitude for their fruitful collaboration and look forward to new endeavors.
