Former Director-General of the Voice of Nigeria, Osita Okechukwu, praised President Bola Tinubu for incorporating the South-East into his renewed electricity road map, “Light Up Nigeria.” Okechukwu, a founding member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), commended this move during the South-East Business Roundtable for the Light up Nigeria project held in Enugu.
The event, chaired by Vice President Kashim Shettima, aimed to ensure dedicated power supply to industrial clusters across the country, with the South-East being the focus. Okechukwu expressed appreciation for Tinubu’s commitment to revitalizing the South-East as an industrial powerhouse.
Highlighting the significance of the Light Up Nigeria project, Okechukwu emphasized that stable electricity is crucial for economic recovery, job creation, and poverty alleviation. He applauded Tinubu for dispelling doubts about his commitment to the South-East and acknowledged the positive impact of infrastructural development in the region on the entire nation.
Okechukwu urged Tinubu to further address longstanding issues in the South-East, such as investing in coal-fired power plants and upgrading rail infrastructure. He also praised Prof. Barth Nnaji for his persistence in overcoming challenges and celebrated the inauguration of the 181MW Geometric Power Plant in Aba by the vice president.
