The Nigerian Football Professional League, NPFL, has been petitioned to bring back the Abia Warriors Football Club to Umuahia, Abia State, so that the team can play its games there.
The fans made this appeal during a meeting with Abia Warriors Secretary, Mr. Francis Nwaubani,
“The club ought to be permitted to play in the capital of Abia State”, according to the supporters, as the football ground at Umuahia Township Stadium recently underwent special repair to raise standards.
They stated that there should be encouragement for the Umuahia township stadium field, which has natural playing grass, particularly given that the surface is in better playing condition.
Speaking with newsmen, a few fans—Kalu Sammy, Nduka Divine, and Eme Mba John—said that attending games away from the team’s home field would be difficult for them because of the difficult financial circumstances that prevent them from routinely leaving Umuahia.
