Inspector Taiwo Kolawole, Inspector John Ogbe, and Cpl Idowu Sunday of the Ijebu-Ife division were fired by Police Commissioner Abiodun Alamutu of Ogun state for their roles in armed robbery and extortion. The information was made public on Tuesday during a parade at the Eleweran Police Headquarters in Abeokuta, where 27 other suspects—including cultists, armed robbers, and kidnappers—as well as the sacked policemen were introduced.
The dismissal came after a report by Tai Solarin University of Education (TASUED), Ijagun, Ijebu-Ode student Kashimao Emmanuel, which resulted in the arrest of the cops and a citizen, driver Adesiyan Mathew. Emmanuel claimed that four armed individuals, one of them was dressed in police camouflage, approached him as he was driving his Toyota Venza, which had the licence plate LSD 813 EX. Six rifles with breach numbers 23286 and ten rounds of live ammunition, as well as an AK-47 rifle with breach number 804274 and six rounds of ammunition, were among the recovered exhibits. APP 684 DX, a Toyota Camry, was also taken from the accused.
