A three-day countrywide dust haze is predicted by the Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) to occur from Wednesday to Friday. A moderate dust haze with a horizontal visibility range of 2 to 5 kilometres is predicted across the north on Wednesday. Dust haze will be present in the North-Central and interior South, while coastal towns will see patches of cloud and an overall hazy atmosphere.
On Thursday, there will be a mild dust cloud over the north, resulting in a visibility range of 2 to 5 km horizontally and less than or equal to 1,000 metres locally. There will be a mild dust haze over the North-Central and interior South regions, while there will be little to no cloud cover in the coastal regions.
Because of the suspended dust particles, NiMet suggests using face masks and exercising caution, especially for those who have respiratory problems. In addition to emphasising skincare, eye, and lip care, and promoting moisturization, it recommends wearing warm clothing for kids and the elderly at night. It is recommended that airline operators keep abreast with NiMet’s weather bulletins in order to facilitate efficient planning.
On Friday, a thick dust haze is anticipated over the northern region. The North-Central and inland south will experience moderate dust haze with a visibility range of 2km to 5km. Coastal areas will be in a hazy atmosphere with few clouds.
