The dismal state of Isuikwuato General Hospital has been linked by Akabueze Ndukwe, Secretary General of the Isuikwuato Development Union, to the purported loss of a 125KVA power generating equipment and a few “unserviceable” hospital vehicles.

Ndukwe stated that he noticed the missing items in 2020 and reported the matter to the stakeholders of Isuikwuato LGA. He was being cross-examined by Enobong Okafor, the counsel to the Abia State Judicial Panel of Inquiry on the Recovery of Government Properties and Funds, regarding the auction sales of “unserviceable vehicles” and the missing 125KVA Generator.

He claimed that the 125KVA Generator Set was in good working order prior to its removal from the hospital’s grounds and that information regarding the whereabouts of the missing items could be obtained from the Hospital Management Board (HMB) and Mr. Chukwudi Ujah, the former administrative officer in charge of Isuikwuato LGA.

The complaint filed by a few fired instructors and staff members of Abia State Polytechnic, Aba against the acting rector, Mrs. Chidinma Ndukwe, was also presented before the Judiciary Panel for hearing.

A related event is that the Abia State Judicial Panel of Enquiry on Recovery of Government Properties and Funds has visited several locations where former state governor Okezie Ikpeazu awarded road contracts in Aba and his Obingwa Local Government Area.

Panel claimed that while on the inspection, it learned that one of the roads granted by the former governor, Ikpeazu, had purportedly been commissioned despite though the contractor had not finished the work.

The panel also reported that during its visit, it came across certain roads with only a partial stone base and drainage systems.
