In a notable intervention, the Anambra State Police Command successfully thwarted a kidnapping incident orchestrated by suspected herdsmen on Friday night. The timely rescue operation unfolded after the mother of the abducted children reported the harrowing incident to the police around 11 p.m.

According to DSP Tochukwu Ikenga, the spokesperson for the command, the distress call conveyed that four children had been kidnapped from a family residing in Achalla Village, Enugwu Agidi, within the jurisdiction of Njikoka Local Government Area in Anambra State. The mother shared a chilling account of the event, stating that the family was watching television when a sudden power outage plunged them into darkness at around 10 p.m.

Alarmed by the unusual circumstance, the head of the household ventured outside to investigate, accompanied by his wife. Their vigil revealed the presence of three gunmen, strongly believed to be herdsmen. In a bid to ensure their safety, the family hastily retreated. When they summoned the courage to return, a heartbreaking discovery awaited them – their four children, peacefully asleep before the ordeal unfolded, had been abducted by the armed assailants.

Responding promptly to this distressing report, the State Commissioner of Police, CP Aderemi Adeoye, mobilized a swift and comprehensive operation involving police personnel and local vigilantes. The primary objective was to rescue the kidnapped children and bring the perpetrators to justice.
