The Nigerian Medical Association (NMA) in Plateau State has distanced itself from the accused doctor. Noah Kekere, who was detained for allegedly taking a woman’s kidney, a patient in his Jos hospital
Kekere was detained a week ago when Alhaji Kamal, a businessman, accused him of operating on his wife in 2018 and removing her kidney, leaving her in misery for the subsequent five years. The suspect was diagnosed with a mental disorder on Saturday and is now receiving treatment for it at the Jos University Teaching Hospital (JUTH).
However, in a joint statement issued and signed in Jos, the public relations officer, Dr. Istifanus Bako, and the chairman of the Plateau State Chapter of the NMA, Dr. Bapiga’an Audu, said that the organization’s inquiry revealed Kekere is not a medical professional.
“This is to inform the general public and everyone concerned that Mr. Noah Kekere, who is presently under investigation for allegedly harvesting organs, is not a medical professional, according to the statement.
“The association’s thorough investigations have shown that he is a quack who passes himself off as a doctor. Following the end of the investigations launched by the NMA and the Nigeria Police, respectively, more information will be made public.
The group also urged everyone to maintain their composure, saying that it was on top of the situation and helping the authorities identify the cause.
