Eze Kanu Ikenolu, the traditional leader of the Ndia Iche Arondizuogu village in Imo State’s Ideato North Local Government Area, was killed by gunmen who torched his country house.

Fire

According to information obtained by our correspondent, the assailants tossed explosives into the mansion, setting the home, the parked cars in the area, and other items on fire.

According to a villager who spoke to our correspondent under the condition of anonymity, the arsonists burned properties worth millions of naira.

He stated, “Unknown gunmen have invaded the palace of HRH, Eze Ikenolu, the Eze of Ndia Iche Arondizuogu, and the people are now hiding in the bushes.”

When asked if Arondizuogu was no longer a part of Imo State, the source bemoaned the fact that police had not yet arrived in the village.

According to Henry Okoye, the state police public relations officer, “Frantic efforts are on top gear to arrest the arsonists and bring them to justice.” Okoye verified the arson to our correspondent.
