Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), has been released by the Department of State Services (DSS) to get a private medical exam.
Ifeanyi Ejiofor, Kanu’s primary attorney, said that the IPOB leader had a medical checkup on Friday in an undisclosed Abuja hospital.
In a statement, Ejiofor said: “We are glad to inform you that Onyendu Mazi Nnamdi Kanu met with his preferred personal doctor on Friday in an Abuja hospital outside the State Security Service (SSS) facility.
“I observed the consultation as required by the protocol. Kanu’s medical checkup went smoothly and successfully, and he will shortly move on to the next round.
Since his arrest and repatriation from Kenya in June 2021, Kanu has been detained by the DSS.
Kanu frequently requested an impartial medical evaluation of his health status while he was being held.
