The Association of community media practitioners in Nigeria (APCOM) has congratulated the Abia state governor, Dr. Alex Otti on his recent Victory at the polls and subsequent swearing-in as the fifth governor of Abia state.
In a letter jointly signed by President Abayomi Adejumo and the Board of Trustees (BOT) secretary Austine Uche-Ejeke APCOM recounted that Alex Otti’s victory at the polls was significant and divine because it was about the third time he contested Abia state governor.
The umbrella body of all Community media practitioners in Nigeria also noted the unique history of governance of Abia particularly starting from the advent of the third republic in 1999 and thus wished to identify with his administration at this crucial stage of governance in Abia state.
The association also recalled that Abia state has undergone a very trying period with the three governors ( Orji Uzor Kalu, TA Orji, and Okezie Ikpeazu) that have ruled the state in the last 24 years and stated affirmatively that the future is bright for those who will take the bull by the horn.
Going further APCOM reminded Alex Otti that as an astute administrator and banker of no mean status that the hope of Abia indigenes is on him to bring to bear his wealth of experience to the development and peaceful co-existence of Abia state.
To make this possible the association solicited the partnership and services of Community media practitioners to achieve a greater goal. This is because as community media practitioners they traverse the nooks and crannies of communities in Nigeria and thus bring enlightenment and information to the grassroots.
The association promised to bring out issues, challenges, and problems of these communities to his doorstep, and at the same time, we will continually announce his projects and achievements to the good people of Abia state and the entire world.
APCOM pleaded with the new helmsman in Abia state to put his ears on the ground to know the problems and challenges of Abia state particularly in the area of road construction, road rehabilitation, infrastructural development, workers’ salary payment, and security.
