The Trademore Estate along Airport Road in Abuja was flooded early one morning, affecting about 116 homes.
No lives were lost, Dr. Abbas Idriss, Director General of the Federal Capital Territory’s Emergency Management Agency, emphasized.
Prior to the incident, there were worries that at least one life had been lost.
Idriss urged residents whose homes are situated along water channels to move, emphasizing that violations on the water channels were to blame for the flood at Trademore Estate.
The Trademore estate is prone to flooding, according to Nkechi Isa, Head of Public Affairs at FEMA, who cited her boss.
“The floods have subsided, and I appreciate all stakeholders’ and residents’ cooperation at Trademore Estate in making sure that no lives were lost,” Idriss said.
Heavy flooding was anticipated in the FCT, according to the Nigeria Hydrological Services Agency, or NIHSA.
In case of an emergency, he advised locals to always call the toll-free number 112 Emergency.
