The candidate and leader of the Accord party in the just-concluded gubernatorial election in Abia state, Amb. Bishop Dr. Emeka Michael Nwankpa, has added his voice to the trending discourse concerning the outcome of the state election where Dr. Alex Chioma Otti of the Labour Party was returned elected by the good people of Abia State who have long yearned for a paradigm shift in the political configuration of the state since 1999, saying that the outcome of the election was, and remains the collective will of the people of Abia State.
In a statement forwarded to newsmen and signed by him, the renowned clergyman made it clear that the contest for the leadership of Abia state was a divine project aimed at rescuing the state from backwardness, unprogressiveness, economic downturn, and redemption from purveyors of our collective patrimony. He said that the condition of the state was so poor that a lot of candidates offered themselves to the rescue, and the people chose Alex Otti. Therefore, any candidate(s) who, for reasons best known to them, wish to put this state through rigors of litigation, does not have the interest of the people at heart.
“I am a patriotic Abian, that is why I presented myself in service to the people in 2023, I sought the face of God and got the node to proceed because I knew I have all it takes to get Abia working again, I have the grace, but God is the ruler of affairs of men and only His will can be done in our lives.
“If in His infinite mercy He allowed the people chose Alex Otti to correct the destruction that has befallen Ndi Abia in the hands of PDP, then every other candidate with goodwill must sheath their swords and give him every support he needs to work for the repositioning of Abia State for progress and navigation out of murky waters of stagnation and despondency, into the light of hope. Any candidate not in support of this change that has come to stay is part of the bigger problem.
“We all witnessed the election. Though it was not a perfect exercise, I must say it was credible to a certain degree. I wonder what men who could not unite their parties to work as one body could have achieved in this circumstance. Abia is not the property of the PDP. Abia must be allowed to survive and not subjected to serving the ego of a few greedy men with entitlement mentally. Enough is enough” he said.
The senior pastor at Chapel of Faith Bible Ministries International admonished the youths to desist from making themselves available as political tools that can be used and dumped at will by their masters, saying that the recent action of Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu who dumped all his PAs, SAs, etc after losing an election is a sign that his only purpose for hiring them was to serve his purpose, and not to serve the state as they were made to believe.
