After a keenly contested gubernatorial election for the number one citizen of Abia state from 29th May 2023, the Action Democratic Party, ADP candidate, Mazi Chibuike Jonas, has sent a congratulatory message to the Labour Party candidate, Dr. Alex Otti who has emerged from the electioneering process because he vehemently fought for it as every other candidate did.
According to the former Arochukwu Local Government Boss, every election is a gentlemanly contest between brothers who must continue their lives after the elections and therefore called on all the candidates to accept the outcome of the election in good fate without creating actions that will delay the development of the state as witnessed in the past, while at the same time admonishing the victor to be magnanimous in victory by carrying every Abian along to achieve lofty strides in good time for the betterment of Abia State.
“I am calling on all the contestants like me to take the outcome of this election in good fate because power comes from God. Abia state has a lot of miles to cover in terms of development, we must not clog the wheels of progress with wanton and unnecessary litigations that will take us nowhere.
“We all fought gallantly, God chose one of us, let us rally around him to move the state toward if our intent was actually in the interest of the masses. No true son of Abia state should take any action that will be inimical to the good of the people.
“I commend INEC, the election umpire for going out of their way to conduct a free, fair, and credible election in Abia state and making the people’s vote count, this is setting good precedence for a better future and hopes for democracy in the land.
“Once again, I say a big congratulations to Dr Alex Otti for coming on top as the winner and Abia state Governor-Elect. To whom much is given, much will be expected”.
God be praised.
