As the intrigues of the 2023 general election continue to unravel, it is very obvious that Abians have sent a succinct message that liberation from the shackles of impunity and maladministration is sacrosanct and they have beautifully pulled down the old order that was bent on keeping the blessed state on her knees by making a clear statement at the polls.
Following their well-deserved victories at the senatorial level, the indefatigable clergy and foremost contender for Abia State seat of authority, Lion House, in the 11th March gubernatorial polls, Amb. Bishop Dr. Emeka Michael Nwankpa has sent hearty congratulations to “Olu Ndi Igbo”, Senator Enyinnaya Harcourt Abaribe of All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, who defeated the incumbent governor of Abia state, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu to emerge the senator-elect for Abia South Senatorial Zone. Saying it is a sign that there is hope for the liberation of the state.
“I always said that unless the people say no to impunity, it will gradually become a way of life. The old order must be jettisoned to rebuild Abia’s foundation for the very interest of Abians and not the benefit of a few. Abia South can now heave a sigh of relief for voting for the man that has the capacity and performance to oversee the development of the zone. I am saying a big congratulations to the man that can make the voice of Abia South to be heard at the national assembly without fear or let”, he said.
The “Father of the widows”, also congratulated the Labour Party Candidate, Chief Darlington Nwokocha, for retiring Ochendo in Abia Central to change the map of leadership for the zone. Saying that it is indeed comforting that the people have come to understand the power of their PVC. Bishop Dr. Emeka Nwankpa is nicknamed “the father or husband of the widows” as a result of his show of love and care for widows through his “Widows Must Smile” empowerment program where he has fed, clothed, and cared for widows for over 17 years of his 28th years in ministry. He believes that with the kind of persons that have emerged as senators and the job he plans to do in Abia state in synergy between them, Abia will be great again and resurrect from being a shadow of herself.
“This is indeed a new hope and a new day for Ndi Abia Central as a new beginning has come, a change in leadership for positive impact. I congratulate my good friend, Darlington for a victory well deserved”, he said.
Bishop Nwankpa also sent hearty felicitations to the Senate Chief Whip and former governor of Abia State, Dr. Orji Uzor Kalu, for reclaiming his seat at the national assembly under his party, All Progressive Congress, APC.
” Orji Uzor Kalu is my very good friend and I must confess that within the first 4 years as a senator of Abia North, he has performed exceptionally well in providing road infrastructure to the rural areas, provision of jobs and scholarships to students as well as raising his voice to many important issues that affect his people at the national assembly. His victory is well-deserved.”, he said.
Meanwhile, the determined contender for the Abia governorship position in Abia State has reiterated his resolve to fight for the opportunity to rescue Abia state to hand it back to the people, saying that he was only in the contest because he has seen the pain of the people due to leadership that lacked conscience and he is poised to correct the anomaly and set Abia back on the path of well deserved and even development.
