The ACCORD candidate for Abia 2023 governorship contest, Bishop Dr. Emeka Michael Nwankpa, has re-emphasized the need to place a fine gap between being a career politician and a man on a mission borne out of a burden to salvage his state from instituted maladministration from leaders without direction who are hell-bent on subsuming the state in perpetuity without a plan for her feature.
He made this known during an interactive session with supporters and stakeholders in Ukwa East Local Government Area where he challenged the electorate to hold him by his words said to them directly, and not through a proxy as is common practice among many candidates who feel they owe nothing to the people and feel too proud to come to them to discuss a future and understand their heartbeat, feel their pulse as the only way to fight for them as a true leader.
While responding to questions from the supporters who trooped out to receive him, the clergyman reminded them that he is not a politician, has never held political office, or has done any contract with any administration. His decision to run for the governorship was because he is no longer happy sitting by the corner and watching as Abia’s fortunes continue to plunge deeper and deeper into the abyss of bad leadership, that is why he has come from the alter to challenge the status quo and redirect the state to the path development.
“I have said it time without a number, I will say it again now. I am not a politician, I have never been in the corridors of power nor do I have any contract with Abia state, either now or in the past. Anything I have now is a gift from God, which is why I decided to use it to serve his people.
“I am coming directly from the pulpit because I begged God for direction, after now, I will return to the pulpit to feed God’s sheep. I will do well as Governor because I know where I am coming from. I would not have the face to go back to the pulpit if I do not deliver on my promises to you today.
“Our people are suffering, workers are not paid, the education standard is at its lowest, and there is no infrastructure to attract investors. I am here to put all these things in place and hand Abia back to the people. We have watched from the altar for years, praying for the State. Now I have come out in person to deliver my people because when a problem defies all solutions, you take it to the altar. Enough is enough, our people have suffered endlessly. This is time to intervene and save her,” he assured the people.
Bishop Emeka Nwankpa can boast of being one truly independent candidate who is by no chance sponsored by the political elites of Abia state who have divided themselves into smaller splinters to keep suckling the state and keep her down for plundering. He has vowed that he will end that ugly era once he mounts the saddle as the executive governor of Abia State.
