It is without argument that until fresh ideas begin to come into the system of doing things, there will be no room for change from the known results to possible outcomes. In order words, you can not continue to do the same thing over and over and expect a different result. It is on this reality that Dr. Ukpai Iro Ukpai has come up with a fresh idea that is in tandem with millennium Department Goals as other countries of the world have aligned with.

On the 24th of December 2022, the New Nigeria People’s Party, NNPC governorship candidate, granted a powerful interview to Arise TV News International. During this program, he made a strong and convincing case for a digitized Economy as a panacea for Nigeria’s dwindling economy. He also argued intelligently on the need to move the economy from an analog consumption economy to a digital productive phase to improve the life of Abians, albeit, Nigerians.

While responding to questions from the Arise TV Anchor on how he will achieve the paradigm shift in the economic transformation from analog to digital, the economic expert explained that it is simple, especially after the lockdown era when Nigeria youths raked in Dollars in Billions through digital content creations and other information technology services, saying that a responsive government which his government will represent can easily leverage on the known facts of digital potentialities to invest in these youths to the extent they can export their content to earn foreign exchange.

Dr. Ukpai Iro assured Asians through the interview that he already has mechanisms in place to embark on a digital-driven economy for the state when elected as the governor in 2023.

“As a means of preparing the ground for digital switch, I have launched Techprenuer Bootcamp that saw to the training of youths from the 3 Abia Senatorial Zones of Abia Central, Abia North, and Abia South. The exercise is designed to train as many as 1500 from each zone. I brought in experts in the field with the aim that after their training, they will be skilled enough to train others in Computer and ICT fields. if the process is sustained over a certain period in the long run, Abia State will be in a position to export these experts, thereby boosting the economy with technology and earnings”, he explained.

He also touched on the need to turn Ariaria into an international market that will be digitally driven to boost production and create enabling environment for investors to come in and invest. With such an investment, the youths will be employed because jobs will be created, and cultism will be more easily managed, insecurity will come under check when technological expertise is employed to manage security.

“We need to broaden our scope, all these are not rocket science. They are practical approaches that require articulate leaders with the political will to execute them for the good of the people. That is why I am in the governorship race. I can easily do these because I have laid out plans to that effect. I only need the support of Abians to turn around the economy. I need their votes for the desired change”, he assured.
