Yesterday was yet another milestone in the ambition of the Labour Party’s candidate for Arochukwu/Ohafia Federal Constituency, Chief Hon. Ibe Okwara Osonwa was honorably received by Ezie Ogo Amuma and his council of Chiefs who prayed for him with the traditional Nzu, the highest symbol of success in the entire Igbo culture.
Hon. Ibe Okwara, the widely accepted candidate whom the electorates believe is a breath of fresh air, a paradigm shift from the old order into a new opportunity, spoke with the media after the special meeting on Thursday:
“I was so honored to receive the support of EzieOgo of Amuma and the Council of Chiefs as I paid a visit to him in his Palace.
“As is my standing belief, I’m running for office because I believe that the people of Arochukwu and Ohafia deserve a representative who will fight for them and stand up against injustice,
“This means a lot to me that they’ve given me their blessing and support. To demonstrate my commitment to serving them well, I told them about my “Adopted Representation” plan, which would involve meeting with traditional rulers periodically to discuss issues affecting our community. I want them to know that as key stakeholders in our communities, they will not be left out of the process.
“These beliefs and adoptions will be the guiding light of my representation because it is most efficient and effective to manage the grassroots by liaising with their heads who will, in turn, represent their interest at a higher forum at all times, that way, the issues of cultism, youthful restiveness, trafficking, drug abuse, etc that has gone unchecked for a while can be managed, and eventually ripped in the bud”, he assured the optimistic leaders.
The visit was graced, as usual, by the company of the Deputy Governorship Candidate of Labour Party Abia State, Engr. Ikechukwu Emetu and Hon. Kalu Mba Nwoke A.K.A Etiokwe (Ohafia South State Constituency Candidate), who also shared their vision with the council and promised to usher in a people-oriented leadership across the board when elected into office.
