4th December 2022 can clearly be described as a remarkable day in the history of the Ohafia Improvement Union, OIU, especially the Abuja Branch, as they completed the unveiling and fundraising for her Okpu Agu House, the Center for Igbo Studies with a vision to put the cultural heritage of Ohafia further in the map and fabric of Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory, and the world of cultural heritage and studies.

In what can be described as a beehive of activities, many illustrious sons and daughters of Ohahia trooped out to show solitary to the lofty vision by donating hugely towards the realization of the dream in record time.

During the unveiling, the President General of the Ohafia Improvement Union, Chief Paul Ochea Ibe, explained that the project when completed will serve as a study center where the rich cultural heritage of the Ohafia people will be studied by people around the world who have been eager to know the history behind the unique Ohafia cultures, delicacies and warrior heritage that set them apart within the Igbo nation and Nigeria at large.

The center when completed will also offer job opportunities to the people, and equip the youths and women with skills that will offer leverage to them in life through skills acquisition and craftsmanship in different fields.

The highlight of the event included the Decoration of Illustrious sons of Ohafia for their numerous contributions to the development of Ohafia in General, encouraging them not to relent in their services to Ohafia and humanity. Notable among them was: Chief Umeh Kalu, Former Attorney General of Abia State and Campaign Director of Peter Obi Presidential ambition in 2023. Another recipient of the honor is the Director/CEO, of Nigeria Film Corporation, Dr. Chidia Maduekwe who offered to provide land in Abuja for the siting and realization of the Ohafia Center in record time.

Other notable highlights of the event included the launching of a Book on Sights, Sounds, Issues, and People of Ohafia in Compendium and the award of friends like the Action Democratic Party Presidential candidate, Engr Y. Y. SANI and Ohafia Son, and naming him Chief Kalu Y. Y. SANI. Dr. Orji Uzor Kalu, the chief whip of the 9th National Assembly, Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, Ph.D., and Other outstanding sons and daughters of Ohafia who were awarded n various fields of endeavor.

The Convener and Chairman of, the Organizing Committee, Chief Kalu Idika Okwara, and his team were commended for achieving a milestone in successfully hosting the event.
